Facebook, like most social networks, has several interface languages, each of which is automatically activated when you visit a site from a specific country. Therefore, it may be necessary to change the language manually regardless of the default settings. We'll show you how to do this on the website and in the official mobile app.

Our instructions are suitable for switching any language, but the names of the required menu items may differ significantly from those presented. We will use English section titles. In general, if the language is unfamiliar to you, you should pay attention to the icons, since the elements in all cases have the same arrangement.

 

Option 1. Website

On the official Facebook site, you can change the language in two main ways: from the home page and through settings. The only difference between the methods is the arrangement of the elements. In addition, in the first case, the language will be much easier to change with minimal understanding of the default translation.

You can use this method on any social media page, but it's best to click on the Facebook logo in the upper left corner before doing so. Scroll down the page that opens and on the right side of the window find the block with languages. Select the desired language, for example, "Russian" or another suitable option.

Regardless of your choice, the change will need to be confirmed in a dialog box. To do this, click the "Change language" button.

If these options are not enough, in the same block, click on the "+" sign. In the window that appears, you can choose any interface language available on Facebook.

On the top bar, click the arrow icon and select Settings.

In the list on the left side of the page, click the Language section. To change the translation of the interface, on this page in the "Facebook Language" block, click the "Change" link.

Select the language you want from the drop-down list and click the Save Changes button. In our example, "Russian" is selected.

Option 2: mobile app

Compared to the full-featured web version, the mobile application allows you to change the language in one way through a separate section with settings. At the same time, the parameters set from the smartphone are not backward compatible with the official website. For this reason, if you are using both platforms, you will still have to do the setup separately.
